The sea can divide — and bring together.
It can be both a destination and a child’s dream.
To swim is to remember, to play, to reminisce, to return.
Elli’s parents are on the verge of divorce, and she spends the summer with her father, who seems distant and emotionally unavailable. When her cat suddenly runs away, Elli sets out in search of the only source of affection she feels she has left.
This short film was inspired by director and theatre pedagogue Stella Serefoglou.
As the script supervisor on the project, I had the privilege of collaborating with a talented team to bring the film to life during the sweltering September of the first year of the pandemic.
The film secured one-year distribution in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden, and was selected for several Greek and international film festivals, including Drama International Short Film Festival, Cinekid Film Festival, Ciné-Jeune de l’Aisne, Uppsala International Film Festival, among others.
